What size and how many fire extinguishers Kilkenny businesses need
Under I.S. 291, the type and number of fire extinguishers depend on the building’s floor area, the fire risks in each room, and the class of fire likely to occur. A small office needs a very different setup to a workshop, kitchen, warehouse or school. We come out, walk the site, and tell you exactly what you need — no more, no less. If you already have units, we work with what’s there and only replace what’s genuinely time-expired or the wrong type for the risk.
Fire extinguishers Kilkenny — areas we cover
We supply fire extinguishers Kilkenny-wide — Kilkenny city, Callan, Thomastown, Castlecomer, Graiguenamanagh, Ballyhale, Bennettsbridge, Inistioge, Mooncoin, Piltown, Freshford and Urlingford. Our engineers run scheduled Kilkenny rounds most weeks of the year for existing fire-safety clients, so a new order or one-off delivery usually slots in within the week. Every set of fire extinguishers Kilkenny we supply is logged against your building’s compliance file, so the annual service the following year picks up exactly where the install left off.
The Kilkenny buildings we look after
Kilkenny is one of our regular routes. Common questions about fire extinguishers Kilkenny
How many fire extinguishers does a Kilkenny business need?
Under I.S. 291, the minimum is one Class A extinguisher (water, foam or water mist) per 200 m² of floor area, with a minimum of two units per storey, plus additional units for specific risks — CO2 near electrical equipment, wet chemical in any kitchen with a fryer, dry powder in workshops. We’ll walk the site and give you a written schedule.
Where can I buy fire extinguishers in Kilkenny?
Directly from us — we’re based in Killinick, Co. Wexford, and we deliver Kilkenny-wide, usually within the week. Unlike buying online, every unit we supply comes wall-mounted, signed, tagged, added to your compliance file, and diarised for its next annual service.
How much does a fire extinguisher cost in Kilkenny?
It depends on type and size — a 1kg powder extinguisher is at the low end, a 9-litre wet chemical unit for a commercial kitchen is at the higher end. We give a full itemised quote after a free site survey so you know exactly what each unit costs before you commit.
Do you dispose of old fire extinguishers?
Yes — when we deliver new units we take away any that have reached the 10-year mark or are damaged beyond repair, and dispose of them responsibly. You get a certificate showing the old units were retired correctly.
